Josh and Hannah met at their mutual friend Jake’s house in November 2024. Josh was in town for Thanksgiving with family, and Hannah was visiting for a friend’s birthday. Jake—an OrangeTheory coach—had Hannah in one of his classes that afternoon. As she was leaving, he mentioned that his friend Josh was hanging out at his house and jokingly told her to “make him take a shot of Fireball.”

Hannah, never one to back down from a challenge (especially one involving Fireball), took the joke seriously. She walked into Jake’s house, introduced herself with, “Hi! My name’s Hannah, and we’re going to do a Fireball shot!” Josh, who had been peacefully watching TV, laughed, stood up, and happily joined in. That spontaneous moment turned into an evening of conversation. As they later described it, “The conversation has never been easier—there was an instant energy between us. It was like lightning struck in both of us.”

Fast forward a few months—Hannah was on a cruise, and Josh was vacationing in Colorado. When Hannah saw his Instagram story from Denver, she messaged him saying how Colorado was her favorite place in the world and wished him a great trip. (If you ask Hannah, she’ll tell you she didn’t slide into Josh’s DMs—she slipped and fell, never expecting that one message would spark the rest of forever.)

Josh mentioned he had a free Saturday during his trip, so Hannah sent him a bunch of her favorite spots in Golden, CO. He ended up visiting some of them, and told Hannah all about his experiences—and from that day forward, they never stopped talking.

Soon their evenings were filled with hours long FaceTime calls and trips between Indianapolis and Minneapolis. It didn’t take long for either of them to realize how special their connection was—or that they didn’t want to experience another day without the other.

In August, during Josh’s busiest season at work, Hannah flew to Minneapolis to spend a couple of weeks helping him through the chaos. One night, after dinner and cocktails out, they came home, curled up in bed, and talked about life, love, and all the little things that make them laugh. Josh mentioned how excited he was for the day Hannah would be his wife—and that it was hard to wait for what they both knew was coming. Hannah agreed.

Just like that, Josh jumped up, grabbed the most beautiful ring, and got down on one knee. At 1:00 a.m. on August 9th, Hannah said yes!
